Question: 6
Where does the Board get its pricing information?
The Board is required by legislation to use the pricing benchmarks set out in the regulations. Daily published data for the benchmarks for gasoline and diesel motor fuels and furnace and stove oil heating fuels is sourced, by subscription, from Platts US Marketscan, an internationally recognized, used and accepted source for fuel-pricing information. Propane data is received weekly from Oil Price Information Service based on the Sarnia propane rack price in Ontario. The information contained in the subscriptions is proprietary and the Board is prohibited from releasing this information.
